Book review by Atnoon
One day, the girl discovers a black spot on her face.
Worried that people might judge her because of the black spot, she shrinks back.
The black spot symbolizes negative emotions like inferiority, hurt, and flaws.
The moment she recognizes her own shortcomings, her self-esteem endlessly plummets.
However, one day, just as she unexpectedly discovered the black spot, she suddenly realizes that other people also have orange spots, red spots, and blue spots.
Everyone has complexes they want to hide.
These flaws come together to reveal each individual's uniqueness,
making the world more vibrant, the girl comes to realize.
The black spot that appeared suddenly or perhaps existed from birth.
Facing the complex she wanted to hide, or had wanted to hide,
and embracing it as part of her distinct individuality,
the moment she distinguishes herself from others, or merges with them,
can become a strength. This is the message we aim to convey.
Illustrator's review
Using pencils and colored pencils as my tools, I aimed to express the profound contemplations of regular individuals in a realistic and intricate manner. Throughout the creation of "Black Spot," I realized that my drawing technique, characterized by a reluctance to detach from the paper, aligns perfectly with my true self and style.
